not much of an update, really....
Sep. 18th, 2004 12:22 amAnd the whole situation in Iraq finally hits home with me.
I just got word that a friend of mine that I've known since high school is getting deployed to Iraq within the month.
I am so scared for him right now, and I'll be thinking of him during this whole mess and hoping he comes back in one piece...or just to come back PERIOD. But at the same time, I'm also very proud of him. He could be like the many people who don't want to go and are trying everything they can to get out of going to fight, and honestly, who really wants to go to Iraq and fight? He's not making a fuss out of it, and he's going regardless. It's his duty. I've never known anyone who's been in any war (except for my grandfather--he was stationed in the Korean War, but he never talked about it), save anyone my AGE or I can actually associate with. I only wish I knew more people who were that patriotic.
