So this is what 30 feels like....
Dec. 8th, 2010 09:13 amDoesn't feel as much different as 29 did, to be honest. But hey! I can walk! I'm still alive! My health hasn't taken a turn for the worse! I'm NOT going to end up like Mom! This is something that needs to be celebrated! I refuse to let myself to turn into a practically crippled, bitter hag!
I made it this far, and now I really need to start living my life for myself.
My birthday wasn't that bad yesterday. It could have been better if the weather weren't so cold outside and I actually went to Navy Pier or downtown Chicago. But I'll wait for a day when the weather isn't so frigid. I did end up going to get my hair cut, but only a few inches to get rid of all the split ends. Now I'm going to BABY the crap out of my hair, and take vitamins, and actively try to grow it out.
Speaking of.......this is what Kevin gave me:

Which is what I asked for. Ohmigosh, this book is so awesome! One of the coolest things is the full mural of the inside of Rapunzel's tower on the first title page of the book. ( Read more... )
*sigh* So I work from 4 PM to midnight tonight. GAH, now it's starting to bother me. We hired a handful of new cashiers, so how is it I'm working a late shift? I just can't win at this joint. I really don't want to waste my thirties at this shitty job.

Shit happens. Literally.
Nov. 27th, 2010 10:20 amSo for the last week, I've been subject to Bo waking me up around 2 in the morning to be let out. Usually, he just wants out for the sake of going out, and it's been really pissing me off because if he doesn't need to go out and do his business, then I don't want to be woken up at the asscrack of dawn for him to mess around outside. It's been throwing off my sleep schedule, and I partially blame Dad for letting him go out to run around off the line. Mom's been telling me, "Just ignore it, close your bedroom door all the way, let him whine it out and go lay down."
So last night, Mom and I were all set to break Bo of this habit. I had my bedroom door shut and I was ignoring his whining, and even Mom told him to "go lay down" when he would start up with the whining.
Bad idea. I guess when his whining for a half hour straight wouldn't get us out of bed, he went to our bathroom and had REALLY BAD DOGGIE DIARRHEA.
....That Dad had to clean up. *LOL* According to Mom, it smelled like Burger King onion rings. Ew.
And now I feel bad that I ignored it, but dammit. That dog's been crying wolf so long that when he actually needed to go out, I ignored it. But you know, it's funny. He knew to go to the human bathroom to "go" when no one would wake up to let him out. I guess he's seen us go in there so often when we need to go (and probably smelled our smells in there) to know to "go" in there. If that isn't smart for a dog, I don't know what is.

Hay u guise!
May. 2nd, 2010 07:41 pmSorry for the delay, but you know the deal. Sometimes I just need a break from the Internet. It was a crazy work week, and I've been coming home from work exhausted as hell. I only had one day off this week, and I only have one day off this coming week as well! That paycheck better look GOOD this Friday, I tell ya.
Mom update: she's still in the wheelchair, but she's getting around better. Her rehab starts tomorrow. She wants to do everything herself, and doesn't want me or Dad or Gramma Julie fawning over her all the time. But we can't just let her do whatever she wants by herself and risk her falling over and injuring herself.
Other than that....not much.
BTW, happy birthday to
hotoddy and
havesomecocoa, the two LJ friends I have whose user names make me think of hot beverages, and belated birthday to
capefetish. :D

First of all, birthday wishes to both
steve_savicki (a day belated) and

Second of all....it won't embed, but here's footage of the first complete test run of "World of Color" at Disney California Adventure!
http://www.laughingplace.com/Lotion-View-1024.asp
Note: because of the angle of viewing and distance at which this was filmed, most of the projections aren't visible. But check out the scope of what it entails! (BTW, this first test run was done for Bob Iger and Head of Parks and Resorts Tom Staggs.)
Man, if I didn't want to go check out Disneyland badly enough before....

ahhh, today is a fine day for science!
Dec. 8th, 2009 08:34 pm(And if you've ever watched "Dexter's Laboratory," you'll know where that title comes from. *hee*)
I got some unexpected gifts for my birthday yesterday. Since I couldn't find a purse I liked when I went shopping with Mom and Gramma Julie on Saturday, Mom ended up getting me this:

It's so amazing. Alton Brown is my homeboy. (They showed the Christmas Cookie episode yesterday!!! Now I have to try making those chocolate-peppermint swirl cookies!) But I especially want to try my hand at Alton's version of cornbread and buttermilk biscuits. Maybe show Dad a thing or two about that Southern cookin'.
And I really didn't expect anything from Kevin's mom, but she got me The Dark Knight on Blu-Ray. AWESOME. So I've been sitting here, watching the "Batman Tech" and the "Batman Unmasked" features. Which is why I say "Today is a fine day for science!"
Other than that, my birthday (and today) was been pretty low-key. Right now, it's crappy outside. It's cold and windy and raining/snowing/sleeting.
