I had a customer come through my line the other day with this purse:

It's one of the Dooney and Bourke exclusives that are being sold at the Disney Parks and on the Disney Store's website. The lady told me it cost her about $225 (with a 15% discount for using her Disney Visa card).
God, that's a lot of money, but I really could use a new purse. Maybe not one that big, though. Just....gosh, that's a lot of money.

the randomness of it all!
Apr. 7th, 2010 10:53 amFor those of you who are wondering...Sandy didn't show up for Easter. She's still in Bloomington, finishing out this semester and getting ready for graduation. I guess she's got a job lined up in Indy with some TV station. TJ couldn't remember exactly what it was he was doing (what kind of a brother ARE you?!), but she does have a job lined up. Troy didn't show up, either. He was doing scaffolding work on Easter. And getting paid triple-time for it. Hell, I would've worked Easter Sunday if I were getting triple-time as well.
*tangent* I know I don't talk a whole lot about me and Kevin on here, but sometimes I wish I had more to talk about with him on the phone. Anymore, we're kind of reduced to five-minute phone conversations a day. He talks about work and how customers drive him nuts sometimes. I listen. I don't talk about how work drives me nuts, because if you've heard my stories about how stupid people are when they go shopping, you've heard 'em all. SVT can be stupid, pointless, a waste of my time, and irritating, but it pays me money. It doesn't pay me enough, though.
I dunno, sometimes I wish I weren't so...boring.
....Maybe I should just develop an alter-ego, dye my hair pink, wear a lot of makeup and keep him in the dark about it? *HEE*
*tangent* It's raining today. And I have to work a later shift at work. Boo and bullfrogs.
*tangent* Is it just me, or is it just on
ohnotheydidnt when LJ starts screwing up for people with the loading? I know ONTD has sponsors now, but still. That's not what's bothering me. I know the mods explained that because the community is at 100% operating capacity, it gets slow, even for high-speed connections. But for crying out loud, I have a paid account and I don't have to deal with ads, and it just bothers me that I have to deal with stuff not loading on there. I notice it loads slower at night, though.... (And BTW, I don't really have this problem at other communities.)

"It's kind of fun to do the impossible."
Apr. 4th, 2010 09:49 amHappy Easter, everybody! Plans for today include going to Gramma Julie's for Easter. Then later on, I'm shooting up to Kevin's mother's place for a little while. :)
I don't know what it is about me not liking going to holiday things at Gramma Julie's anymore. I think I would like it better if Sandy weren't there. For one thing, it's like the only time of year we ever see her--at Christmas and Easter. For another thing...she just makes me feel so inferior, with her IU-student/sorority girl/spoiled brat life.
And her skinniness and tanned skin and blonde hair.
And her Abercrombie and Fitch wardrobe.
And how she just texts on her cellphone half the time and barely engage in conversation with the rest of us.
And chows down on the spinach-and-artichoke dip because she's a vegetarian and barely touches the rest of the food (except for shrimp cocktail; she's not TOO vegetarian to pass up the shrimp cocktail).
Just.....ugh. I don't even know what she has planned for what she's going to do when she graduates. I hear she was shooting for a career in broadcast communications, but who knows?
I sat down and really thought about it earlier last week. And you know what? I really don't know if I want to go back to school and finish up the journalism thing. It's not really what I wanted to go to college for in the first place. I honestly feel like I was pushed into it by my high school guidance counselor. I would've really loved to have pursued that dream of being an animator and went to art school. And you know....I could still do it. Because quite frankly, I'm at this point in my life where I'm done with trying to do what Mom wants me to do so she can be proud of me. I'd rather be happy with what I do with my life rather than trying to please the impossibly-hard-to-please.
Here's my goal. I want to sit down and write a book of my memoirs as a grocery store cashier. I want to publish this. I want to earn money off of this. And with this money, I'll fund my way through art school.

Ann M. Martin's writing BSC stuff again!
The Summer Before by Ann M. Martin
Hardcover: 224 pages
Publisher: Scholastic Inc. (April 1, 2010)
ISBN-10: 0545160936
ISBN-13: 978-0545160933
Before there was the Baby-Sitters Club, there were four girls named Kristy Thomas, Mary Anne Spier, Claudia Kishi, and Stacey McGill. As they start the summer before seventh grade (also before they start the BSC), each of them is on the cusp of a big change. Kristy is still hung up on hoping that her father will return to her family. Mary Anne has to prove to her father that she's no longer a little girl who needs hundreds of rules. Claudia is navigating her first major crush on a boy. And Stacey is leaving her entire New York City life behind...
...in order to find new friends in Stoneybrook, Connecticut.
The Summer Before . . . is a sweet, moving novel about four girls on the edge of something big - not just the Club that will change their lives, but also all the joys and tribulations of being twelve and thirteen.
Although I think it might be more interesting to read a book about the BSC into their high school years, I'll still DEFINITELY read this.

So I was reading this story at
ohnotheydidnt, and this is automatically what came to mind when I read the baby's name:
I freaking loved these dolls when I was little. And I was a little girl when I had them, too. I'd say I was at least four or five years old. (I remember taking a Rose Petal doll with me to the hospital when I had my lung surgery, along with Rainbow Brite.) I'd say Rose Petal was the predecessor to Jem, really. But I can never get over how the dolls smelled! Just beautiful and flowery!
I had nearly the whole collection that came with Rose Petal, too. Almost all of her friends, the watering can house (I loved her house), the roadster, and Nastina the spider. I think Mom sold a lot of the stuff at yard sale, but those are toys that I really remember sticking out very vividly.
The last thing I had of those dolls were these storybooks that I got from Gramma Julie and my great-grandma Louise, and I held onto those babies for a VERY long time. But then a couple of years ago, we got some of those nasty rainstorms, and our basement flooded and ruined nearly everything down there. Nearly all of my stuff downstairs was in big plastic storage boxes, except for some more sentimental stuff in my old toybox....including those books. I was so devastated; there was a lot of stuff of sentimental value in that box that got ruined.
The dolls are quite hard to find on eBay. Over the last five or so years, I've tried, and I haven't had much luck.

Sep. 26th, 2008 10:27 pmExclusive: The Dark Knight Blu-ray Covers! (UPDATE)
Source: Superhero Hype!, TheHDRoom.com
September 26, 2008
Superhero Hype! has gotten its hands on a couple early images from the upcoming Blu-ray DVD for Christopher Nolan's record-setting action movie The Dark Knight, which has grossed over $520 million domestically and another $450 million internationally.
Although the standard commercial version of the Blu-ray release will probably have the same poster image of Batman standing in front of a building emblazoned with his logo, we've received an image of a Blu-ray cover featuring an image of Heath Ledger's Joker, and we also have a look at the insert of the Special Edition Blu-ray, which will be available at the same time.
Our source that hooked us up with these images told us that the Blu-ray would include "BD Live" and that there would be a 3-disc version with the 3rd disc being a digital copy for iPod or other video player.

oh boy, I'm at it again
Apr. 7th, 2008 09:25 amI'm on eBay, looking for Jem stuff. And I just put in a bid on a Synergy doll.
But I've got a little extra money. Yeah, I really should save it, but sometimes you just have to spoil yourself.
Really, I'm looking for a cheap, out-of-box Rio doll i good condition so I can do some OOAK work on it. I'm having no luck so far, unless I want to get a shitload of other Jem dolls with it, which I don't really want.
There's probably going to be some downtime at Starbright. The worst is starting to happen for me, character-wise, but I have to be strong about it. Sometimes you grow so attached to what you write and who you play, and even though you know what's going to happen storyline-wise (or have a good idea what to expect...I've talked a lot of this through with Jeed and Carmen, what I'm doing with Rio, and they really like the idea, even though it'll take a while to play it out), you still get heartbroken regardless when you see it playing out.

I want a lot of crap
Oct. 5th, 2006 01:28 pmDebating over what next eBay bidding I should make...once I get a little extra money.
What I got last time was clearly not 100% mint. Earrings don't work, missing one Jem shoe and one Jerrica shoe. Not too happy with my purchase, but at least I didn't blow $100 on it.
I could bid on a guaranteed working-earrings 100% mint 1st edition Jem/Jerrica not in the box. Or I could continue my search for an NRFB 1st edition Jem/Jerrica and just never open that sucker up. Or I could get all the pieces I need off of eBay and refurbish one myself.
See, what I want for Christmas more than anything in the world is a nice new sewing machine. I don't know, I really want to get into a clothes-making hobby. If you know me, I am a very picky person when it comes to shopping for clothes. I like to get creative, I like to look different.
....Yeah, I'm just bored and wanting things that I can't afford.
And with that, here's a survey that I stole from
mellebelle13, who subsequently stole it from someone else. *heh*
