First off, Nikki's dad came in to rent something earlier today. He hands me one of the "monthly rent one get one free" cards, and I'm thinking nothing of it and go ahead and give him a free rental, because I figure he was sent something in the mail for it. (That's the only way you can get one--bring in the flier and we issue you one.) Nope--turns out he's got three of these things on him that Nikki brought home for him and her sisters for their respective accounts, but he didn't know if he could redeem them all at once. Now...if it had just been me working at the registers, I probably would have just let it go...but I wasn't. Sheri saw it, too. So Nikki's dad inadvertedly ratted her out. Sheri's pretty much lost her trust in Nikki for taking coupons/rental cards and issuing them improperly. And what sucks is that Nikki was trying to get a promotion, too, but Tiffany is coming back after the holiday season at her second job ends and Tiffany's going to get promoted immediately. (It has nothing to do with seniority, it's more of an experience level. Plus, Tiffany's a good upstanding girl.)
However, Danielle is finally gone. Sheri had to confront her on that $15 shortage from petty a week or so ago. I don't know if I went into detail about that here or not, so here goes: one of the first few days I opened, petty cash was $5 short when I counted. I counted it down about three times and it was still coming up $5 short. So I kicked in $5 to even it out because I did not want to be held responsible for it, and I made note of it. However, next day, Danielle chews me out because when she counted down petty, it was $15 short. Uh-huh, yeah. I re-count it...yep, $15 short, just like she said. After that weekend, I found out that petty was supposed to be $5 short. I guess Sheri had to do a disbursement and forgot to make note that it was going to be $5 short. So I was right. How the fuck it got to be $15 short is all on Danielle. So Sheri confronted her on it tonight, maybe a half hour into Danielle's shift. Danielle got all pissy with her and asked, "How come Holly didn't get written up for it?" Sheri told her that it was none of her business about me, and this shortage was none of my business...and I guess Danielle up and quit. Fine then. Good riddance. She was going to leave soon anyway because of her other job. And THEN, I guess she drove over to Crystal's house after that to complain about it, right when Crystal's getting ready to come in and take over her shift. And you know what? Crystal's with me on this one, because petty was indeed supposed to be $5 short and that's how I reported it. So if Danielle wants to get pissy with me, fine then. Let her. I really don't give a fuck anymore because she's not employed at Blockbuster.
Crystal and I didn't get out till late tonight. We had customers stay in the store till past closing. Of course, Nikki came in ten minutes till close to gab with Crystal. Then after we closed and got all the stuff done, there was this truck out in the parking lot parked close to me and Crystal's cars. We're the only place that still has people in there closing up, so we're naturally a little suspicious. So we called the police to do a quick patrol of the area. (Can't be too careful this time of year.)
God, I soooooo need to get out of retail.
What sucks is that I work till close tomorrow night (which is till ten p.m.) and open the next morning (fucking New Year's Day). I have no life, I am a fucking loser, someone shoot me. If anyone wants to do something New Year's Eve when I get off of work, call me up and we'll figure something out. ;)
