So, over the last few days, I've been getting customers having absolute shit fits when I've been making them/forcing them to write out their own checks because technically, our machines don't print them for the customers like at some other stores (Jewel, County Market, WalMart, etc.). All the new upgraded check approval systems do is process and void them out. Also, with the credit card consoles, you have to sign the screen on the console and then a seperate slip of paper prints out that the customer has to sign and we keep. Sounds stupid and redundant and more work than what it is, right? RIGHT?!
However, Diane comes up to me towards the end of my shift yesterday, and she tells me now...about a month since we've gotten these stupid things installed...that the customers really don't have to sign those paper slips or make out their checks anymore.
Seriously....WTF?!! I felt like I was the last cashier to be told this!
What's the point of a customer even paying by check if they're not going to make it out and get it back blank except for a voided-out mark? They may as well just get a debit card--the transaction goes quicker that way. What do we think we're doing--"going green" this way? IT'S A WASTE OF A CHECK!!!!! A WASTE OF PAPER!!!!
Ahh...Susan and I got our aggressions out on the matter on MySpace last night. We both agree that the way customers act is all part of a conspiracy theory just trying to get us all to quit. *ha ha*
