DISNEY, DISNEY, DISNEY (it's meme time!)
Nov. 2nd, 2010 09:28 pmDay #14: Your favorite kiss
There's nothing overly romantic about how Prince Charming kisses Snow White, but it's a very respectful kiss.
Day #15: The first movie you saw
I really had to think hard about this one, and I'm pretty sure the first Disney movie I remember seeing was Sleeping Beauty. We rented the tape from the local video store, and my mom set up our VCR to our uncle's and made a copy of it so we didn't have to keep renting it out all the time. (Keep in mind, this was the mid 80s, right when home video was starting to take off. We were pretty lucky to have even HAD a VCR.)
Day #16: Your favorite classic
OOOOH, that's a hard one. I love all of the classics. I'm really going to have to go with Snow White again on this one, but Sleeping Beauty is just so strikingly beautiful. Then again, I have a soft spot in my heart for Pinocchio as well.
Day #17: Your least favorite classic
I'll have to go with probably The Adventures of Ichabod and Mr. Toad, if only for the Mr. Toad section. Only because I've read The Wind in the Willows, and there was SO much they left out of the book. Walt and the Nine Old Men could have really done something special with The Wind in the Willows if their budget had allowed for it.
Day #18: Your favorite Pixar film
Seriously? LOVED THIS. Had to see it a few times in the theater. The level of storytelling that Pixar was able to accomplish with WALL-E with very minimal spoken dialogue was amazing. I was sorely disappointed this movie didn't win the Oscar for Best Original Screenplay that year. I also love the level of detail Pixar put into this (especially in ALL THAT TRASH in the beginning!), and it's very interesting to think that a programmable unit like WALL-E would be able to develop a personality on its own over the course of 700 years. (Because the concept of artificial intelligence freaks me out.)
Up! and Toy Story 2 are a very close second, though. Yes, I said Toy Story 2. The third one was excellent, but the second one is my favorite of the trilogy.
( Out there, full of shine and full of sparkle, close you eyes and see it glisten, Barnaby....listen, Barnaby.... )
