IDGAF what you think about them
Apr. 2nd, 2010 11:18 pmReuben sandwiches are the shizznit.

YUM.
So the other night, Mom wanted a French dip sandwich from Athen's Grill. She sent me with some money to pick one up for her. While I was there, I decided I'd get myself a Reuben sandwich.
A) Because it was dinnertime.
B) They offered them.
This was not the first time I've had a Reuben. If a diner/restaurant offers it, I will usually get it. (Or a good Monte Cristo sandwich.) And WOW, do I love these things. I don't eat them very often; they're a rare treat. All the corned beef with the Swiss cheese and Russian dressing, and then you add the sweet-tanginess of the sauerkraut for texture...just....YUM!! Gawd, I'm practically drooling as I'm typing this!
I come home and I dole out our food. And I'm digging into my Reuben, all excited to eat it, and Mom gives it a weird look and is all, ".....Ew." Like the rest of the Baby-Sitters Club do when Dawn Schafer digs into tofu.
WELL, EFF HER AND HER FRENCH DIP/ITALIAN BEEF/WHATEVER THE HELL SHE'S EATING. People around here go nuts over their Italian beef sandwiches. I don't know if it's a Midwest/Chicagoland thing or what. Don't get me wrong--they're okay. But sit a nice Reuben in front of me and aaaaaaaaaaaaah!
Mom doesn't know what she's missing! Corned beef is excellent, but then pair it up with some Swiss cheese and a little bit of 'kraut on toasted rye bread, and you have heaven on a plate.
So ends the post about me singing the praises of the Reuben sandwich. Now go back to your continued LiveJournal browsing. :P
