hollybrooke: (one touch and I'm off the ground)
Let me start this out by saying that I'm not a big fan of the Bratz doll line. However, I do like what [livejournal.com profile] pikapika217 does with his Bratz fashion photo shoots, though; that's creative and they always turn out cute.

Okay...when Bratz came out, the first thing out of my mouth was, "Those dolls are going to die a terrible death like Jem did. They don't fit into Barbie's clothes, and they're kind of expensive. Somwhere down the line, parents aren't going to want to invest so much money in a seperate doll line from the standard Barbie type."

I was in Target today, browsing the doll aisle for fun, and since Bratz are adjacent to Barbie, I couldn't help but look. And I noticed that some of the newer Bratz dolls (the ones I noticed mainly are some new-ish line with them in ice skating fashions) are being marketed in smaller containers with not so much detail in their fashions.

I noticed a pattern. When Rock 'N Curl Jem came out after Glitter & Gold Jem, RNC was put into smaller bozes with no cassette tape and with regular plain ol' white earrings, just like these newer Bratz dolls are getting.

And retailers are already saying that this Christmas season may be one of the worst yet, since consumers are really trying to hold on to whatever money they can. They're already trying to push Christmas stuff in Target, and Halloween is only three weeks away.

I'm just saying, by this summer, there may be a lot of Bratz dolls getting clearanced out super-cheap. They're not going to last much longer, I'm afraid. :(
