So get this. On Saturday morning, five minutes before I was ready to head off to work, I got a phone call from Dad on my cell phone. He gave me his credit card info, & he asked me to call up a florist & order some flowers for Mom since it was their wedding anniversary. Then he also asked me to order some flowers for Cosette since it was her birthday, as well. He's trying to be sneaky about it since he wanted it to be a surprise for Mom. Too late--Mom was up & caught the tail end of the conversation, mainly hearing about sending flowers to Cosette. She went into naggy bitch mode: "Who was that? Was that your dad? Why was he calling you? Why was he calling your cell phone? Did he ask you to send flowers to your grandmother? Don't send her any flowers, Holly, Cosette treats both of us like shit. Is he doing anything for me? It's our anniversary, he always pulls this shit." And of course, I couldn't very well tell her anything because Dad wanted to surprise her, do something nice for her on their wedding anniversary. They've been married 27 years, for crying out loud. But really. The way she handled it, the way she had to be an ungrateful bitch about it pissed me off & put me in a pretty bad mood for the rest of the day. So I called Dad back up on his cell & ranted about it. Didn't mean to put him in a bad mood, but I'm just getting so tired of dealing with Mom's rotten attitude towards everything under the sun. But I got to work & ordered the flowers anyway. Problem was...well, maybe I wrote down Dad's credit card info too quickly & messed up a number. The thing is, the order didn't got through. Soooo...I ended up putting the order on my debit card. So Dad owes me about sixty bucks.
The thing is, I understand where Mom stands on the whole matter. She bitched that Dad always waits till the last minute to do anything for her on their anniversary, that he can't plan anything in advance, but in Dad's defense...he's on the road, he doesn't have enough time when he gets home to get the stuff done around here that he needs to do or get the rest he needs before having to head out again. And it's not like he has the number of a florist while he's out driving. I don't mind helping Dad out in matters like this. As for ordering flowers for Cosette...I know I will always be at odds with her, but I did it for DAD, not for HER. She's his mother, you know.
Then I felt even more bad about everything when I found out that Dad's semi broke down outside of Las Vegas in the desert. So not only was he not able to be at home for his anniversary, he had to be put up in a hotel until it gets fixed. And I think the problem with the semi is worse than what it looked like, so he & his trucking partner may have to just come home right out. This sucks. But at least he's getting paid for his time.
Yesterday, I went to the beach with Kevin. We did nothing but lay out. Better than sitting around at home & doing nothing, I figure.
