I KNEW it!!
May. 15th, 2006 09:23 pmAs of June 12th, Blockbuster Video will no longer be participating in "end of late fees." It's official! I knew it! "End of late fees" was such a crock! We all called it when the idea was suggested! Customers keeping movies out waaaay past the due date with no consequence & turning it at the absolute latest without getting charged the retail price of the movie! Blockbuster's been losing money left & right! I'd like to meet the asshole in charge & smack him for his own damn stupid idea. Now we're bringing back late fees, but now they're gonna sugar-coat it & call them "daily rental fees": if the movie's not in by noon on the due date, they'll be charged 99 cents per movie per day late. And they can always choose the option to pay it the next visit.
So welcome back to typing in "Legit Late Fees" on each customer account when the movie is late. Welcome back to having to call up on the 49 day delinquent balance sheets. Welcome back to extra long late call lists. But best of all, welcome back to MOVIES ACTUALLY BEING AT THE STORE WHEN YOU WANT TO RENT THEM!!!!!
Oh yeah, customers are going to get pissed. But they have options:
A) go rent somewhere else. There are other rental outlets besides Blockbuster--go frequent them! I know I do! Netflix. Family Video. Movie Gallery. Hollywood Video. The little mom 'n pop joint in town.
B) suck up your pride & realize "Do I REALLY need to keep Wedding Crashers out for two frickin' weeks? I better prioritize & realize to rent a movie when I intend on watching it!" It's no big deal. We survived with late fees before. It's a small price to pay to have some guarantee that movies WILL be in when you come in to rent.
C) sign up for a damn Movie Pass. That way, you won't have a due date or late fees to worry about. There ya go.
Shit like this almost makes me want to consider sticking around for an actual management position. ALMOST.
*tangent* By the way, thanks for posting what you did Amanda, if you're reading this. It put things in perspective. And Christina's right. The last weekend will be just that--the last weekend FOREVER. Then no more Rocky!!
*tangent* Been in major crampy pain today. Didn't feel like doing shit at work. Ugh. Don't feel like doing shit now, either. I need a vacation.
*tangent* I was on the radio today! I bitched at the Illinois people on Kiss 103.5 to quit bogarting the free gas on Free Gas Friday & give us in Indiana a chance...or Kiss 103.5 can lose their Indiana audience. *ha* So THAT'S what I sound like...

Dear Holly,
Here is your horoscope
for Monday, May 15:
Sometimes the only step to take is forward, no matter how scary it seems. If you're so afraid of being wrong, you'll never be able to figure out what's actually right. It's time to move ahead. Now.
More tomorrow. Gonna go lay down
