Apr. 10th, 2004 05:05 pmThe funeral was today. Part of me wants to wait till we get home and I can actually sit down with a good amount of time to update (there's no chair in the bedroom here; I'm standing up whilst I type), but here's the gist of things.
The service was good. We think Grandma Cozie paid too much for that particular funeral home, but I don't think she's in a position to be complaining. And...okay, I don't know if we should have been surprised that JR's dad showed up. Let's put it this way: JR's dad never gave a shit about him. He abandoned my aunt and JR waaaaay back in the day (like when JR and I were both toddlers), and he never paid one damn bit of child support and was never there for JR when he needed it. He took JR in for maybe a month after Aunt Pam and Amber died, but it was not a good place for him to be after all of that. So, we took him in. So...*ha ha* the kicker of the whole funeral service was when the clergyman said his last name "Knors," totally botching it up. It's funny because it's almost a slap in the face to his dad. So we don't know if the clergyman did that on purpose or not.
Everyone is leaving now. I think we should be home by Tuesday or so. Dad wants to stay an extra day to help Grandma settle some of JR's affairs and stuff. So now, it's down to Dad, Grandma Cozie, Hunter and me. And Hunter is the only one who can really carry the last name, since whenever I get married, my last name will change. (Like that'll be happening anytime soon.)
Well, enough of the update. I'm going to go outside and converse with family about junk.
