if you don't like it, don't watch it

Today, I went to see The Passion of the Christ.
*lets out a long heavy sigh*
First of all, major props to Mel Gibson. The movie was brilliantly pulled off. (The cinematography was EXCELLENT.)
Second of all...okay, let me say this. Every single news show that has been talking about this film has been saying REPEATEDLY that it is graphic and violent. So, it's kind of like you've been forewarned. If you don't like watching that kind of stuff, then you can always choose not to watch it. I understand that people may want to see it for the religious message involved. But if you don't like watching people getting the tar beat out of them and if the sight of blood makes you uneasy...then don't go to see it. People were walking out of the theater saying, "Geez, it didn't have to be that violent."
Eh, it's preparing me for Kill Bill Vol. 2 when that comes out.
I winced a few times during the 39 lashings. I winced when they drove the crown of thorns into his head. I couldn't bear to watch when they showed a rotting donkey carcass (eew, magots!!!) so I shielded my eyes. But what made me shed a couple of tears was seeing Mary's reaction to all of the things that her son was being subjected to. You don't get that perspective in the Bible. A mother should never have to see her child go through something like that. But no...all of the violence didn't bother me much at all. What can I say? I watch wrestling. I'm desenstized to that sort of shit. (Thank you so much, Vince McMahon and Mick Foley.)
Who's your buddy?!
